Emile's view on reading multiple books at once

Bonjour!

So today is the day for a book talk, I've decided. Do you read more than one book at a time? Or do you stick to a special single novel?

Currently I am reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.  I have been reading it for a week, and I am only 160 pages through. Here comes the eternal struggle. Do I stick with the book, or read something I really want to read?  I do want to read this book, in truth partly because I want to sound intelligent saying that I have read some Jane Austen.

Something has finally started happening as far as an actual plot line, but I'm not sure wether or not I have the willpower to get through the next 140 pages.  I want to keep ploughing through, but life is short and I feel like I am wasting my time. I have seen so many 5 star reviews on Goodreads for Pride and Prejudice, but personally I just don't see it. I hate leaving books half way through and picking up another one, because I know that I'll never get back to the one I was reading originally. Also, when I read more than one book at once, I feel like I am having an affair with literature.

The other thing I have never gotten into is the "this is my school reading book and this is my home reading book". No. This is the book I am reading. This one single novel.

Please tell me wether or not you have read Pride and Prejudice and what you thought of it, also your opinion on reading multiple books at once.

Au revoir,
Emile :)
