Dewey's 24 hour Read-a-thon Wrap Up // Emile

Bonjour!

Here is my Dewey's read-a-thon wrap up for October 2015. It didn't exactly go as planned.

We made a comfy space with lots of pillows and blankets.

We grabbed snacks.

And then started reading!

After only thirty minutes, my reading partner fell asleep -_-

I kept at it though!

And then I got tired.
Really tired.
And it was only 11:30 pm.

So I ended up listening to an audiobook as I went to sleep.

The next morning we both read for fifteen minutes, then after we got dressed we had to make cookies as part of a homework project. By the time we finished, tidied up and had lunch, the read-a-thon was over.

So all in all it didn't go too well, but we both had a fun time and that's what matters. I only read 150 pages in total: 30 pages of The Perks of Being a Wallflower and 120 pages of The Night Circus.

Oh well. Better luck next time.

Currently Reading 21.10.15 // Emile

Bonjour,

I am currently reading The Nights Circus by Erin Morgernstern. It's a good book so far, although I think that I'm in a bit of a reading slump at the moment. Hopefully it's not a long one. 

I got my braces on today and my teeth really hurt. I'm now going to attempt to sleep.

The Name of the Wind Review // Emile

Bonjour everybody,

Recently, a couple of days ago in fact, I finished reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. As it's such a well known book in the world of YA fantasy, I thought it would make for an interesting review. So here we go.

The Name of the Wind is the life story of a world famous hero, murderer, arcanist and musician called Kvothe. However after all of his exciting exploits he disguised himself as an innkeeper called Kote in a humble village. One day, despite his best efforts to stay hidden, Kvothe is found by a scribe who wants to hear his life story. Eventually Kvothe agrees, and tells the scribe his tale...

Over all, I really enjoyed this book. It is quite long so it took me a while to read, which wasn't helped by the fact that when I got to bed I was so tired that I could only read five pages before my exhaustion took over. It is the first book in the Kingkiller Chronicles, which are a three books series. I have heard it described as "a book every fantasy lover needs to read" as well as "the cult of YA fantasy". I consider myself a fantasy novel enthusiast, therefore I decided that I had to read it. I would recommend it, although I don't think that it is mandatory for all fantasy lovers. I really liked reading from the main character's POV (point of view), and I was always excited to see what happened next. I found the relationships between characters incredibly interesting, also the setting of the story was cool to read about. I would love to go to The University! I would spend so much time in the Archives. I rate it 4/5 stars.

Currently Reading 14.10.15 // Emile

Hello everybody!

Here is your weekly currently reading post from me. I appreciate that they haven't been incredibly regular recently however I assure you that I am back on track and shall be posting on schedule. In case you don't know I post book talks, reviews etc. on Mondays and on Wednesdays I post 'currently reading' updates. 

Right now I am reading My Heart and Other Black Holes By Jasmine Warga. It has good four or five out five star reviews so I was expecting quite a lot. I have to say that so far I am enjoying it, but I'm not exactly blown away. I hope that it improves a little more towards the end. I'll let you know what I think. 

I'll probably finish it before the Dewey's read-a-thon on Saturday as it's short and easy to get through.

Dewey's 24hr Read-a-thon TBR // Emile

Nos da! 

(That means 'good night'. I'm trying out my Welsh heritage)

It is that time of year again! The Dewey's 24 hour read-a-thon is happening this Saturday 17th, and I decided ten minutes ago that I would take part. Besides it's the perfect excuse to be anti-social and read as much as I want. I know I'm not the only one who does that. 

The way the read-a-thon works is that everybody starts at exactly the same time, so that no matter your time zone everyone kicks it off together. That means that if you are taking part you will need to check your starting time. I'll leave a link at the bottom of the post. 

I'm not great with read-a-thons. I set myself an over-ambitious goal and then (surprise surprise) I never achieve it. Therefore this time I have decided that I shall set a more realistic goal with the hope of completing it this year. I'm in a contemporary mood which is useful as I find contemporaries easiest to binge read. Also I have been reading so much fantasy lately that it's a nice break. 

Anyway, I'll get to it. 

1. The Night Circus ~ Erin Morgenstern

Hopefully I will have already started this by then, as it is five hundred pages long. Either way I need to read it before the end of October as part of a TBR challenge my friend and I are taking part in. 

2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower ~ Stephen Chbosky

I absolutely LOVE this book and I have been meaning to re-read it for a while, so I figured that now is the perfect chance. I'm in the mood for something that will make me cry. 

If I finish these two, I will start another book, however I don't know what I'll be in the mood for so I'm going to leave that open.

I will be doing a wrap up that will be up next week, so keep an eye out for that. 

Sorry for me recent absence, I'm back on track now.
