The Colleen Hoover Book Tag // Maud

This is a tag made by our friend A over at abookphilosophy!
I actually haven't read any Colleen Hoover books but am planning on reading on picking up a few in future. Let's get started!

1. "Just finish Miles"- Ugly Love
A book you couldn't put down. 
For this I pick Me, Earl and the Dying Girl. I know that I am not a fan of this book but I finished it really quickly and it was a really fast and easy read so I read it in like only a few sittings. I didn't love this book tho :(

2. "I'll love you, even when I can't"- Confess
An old favourite.
Goodnight Mr Tom :)This is such an easy choice, I still love this book so much. I read it a few years ago and it was my favourite book for a while!

3. "There will never be a 'maybe someday'"-Maybe Someday
A book you can't wait for.
A Court of Mist and Fury. Luckily by the time this post is up, ACOMAF will be out! It is also our may BOTM for an Infinite Philosophy so I will might actually reading this right now. PLEASE SAY RHYSAND IS A THING!

4. "You keep your ocean, I'll take the Lake"- Slammed 
A book to which you prefer the sequel.
Hollow City. I love Miss Peregrine's Home For Children was amazing but I preferred the actual story of the second book. I have not yet read Library of Souls but I love the series so far!

5. "I need a chapter break"- Hopeless
A book you had to put down to compose yourself.
For this one I am going to pick All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. If you have read it then you will know why... :( I literally was in floods of tears and my parents were probably really confused but oh well.

6."If we're going to kiss it has to be bookworthy"- November 9th

*ARISTOTLE AND DANTE SPOILERS*
This is close between Rhysand and Dantistotle but I think Dantistotle will beat it by a tiny bit. They are just so cute and quirky. I SHIP THEM SO HARD!

P.S. Sorry for lack of currently reading posts because I have 2 Maths and 1 English end-of-year exam so I'm STILL on Throne of Glass. I have one today so I'm gonna hopefully binge read after school but then I have to start revsing again as there is another two exams on Tuesday :(

The Hamilton Book Tag // Emile

Hello everyone!

I really like Hamilton. I don't think you understand. I really like Hamilton.

In case you gave been living under a rock (or maybe you just haven't heard) Hamilton; An American Musical is a recently premiered musical about the founding fathers of America, the War of Independence and specifically about the life of Alexander Hamilton, who was one of the founding fathers. It is a hip hop musical written by Lin Manuel-Miranda who incidentally plays Alexander Hamilton, and is told almost entirely through music. I love history and I love music so ever since I was introduced to it by A Book Philosophy I have been listening to the soundtrack on repeat.

Lin Manuel-Miranda is shown here playing Hamilton (the one at the front). Even better he did an interview with Emma Watson about the HeforShe campaign. He seems like a really nice person. Here is the video he did with Emma Watson : Lin Manuel-Miranda interview.

Unfortunately the show is only in the U.S at the moment. Until it comes to Britain I guess I'm going to have to settle on jamming out to the soundtrack while doing the ironing. You can get the music on Spotify, Apple Music or I believe most of the songs are available on YouTube; just search "Hamilton Musical".

Imagine how excited I was to find out that there is a Hamilton book tag! This tag was originally created by Maureen Keavey on YouTube. Click HERE to see her video. To get in the mood I decided I would listen to the soundtrack whilst writing this post. (Currently I am listening to "Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down)").

This contains Crown of Midnight spoilers. 

1. The Room Where it Happens; a book world you would put yourself into.
Of course I'm going to have to say The Wizarding World in Harry Potter. It's a no-brainer.

2. The Schuyler Sisters; and underrated female character.
I cannot think of one for this. No matter how much I try. I'll probably think of someone later tonight and I'll have to add it tomorrow.

3. My Shot: a character that goes after what they want and doesn't let anything stop them.
As soon as I read this I immediately thought Celaena Sardothien. She will kill for what she wants. Literally.

4. Burn; the most heartbreaking end to a relationship that you've ever read.
Again. I cannot think. I'm sure there are plenty but conveniently I now cannot remember any of the books I've ever read.

5. You'll Be Back; the sassiest villain.
I know Umbridge isn't technically a villain. But she was pretty sassy in all that pink.

Look at her sassy face.

6. The Reynolds Pamphlet; a book with a twist you did not see coming.
All I can think of is We Were Liars. The twist wasn't completely shocking, but it wasn't exactly what I expected.

7. Non Stop; a series you marathoned.
I marathon most series. I guess I could say pretty much any series I've read. For this I'm going to pick Percy Jackson and the Olympians. My friend and I read them one after the other while we were on holiday together.

8. Satisfied; favourite book with multiple points of view.
I really liked the multiple points of view in All the Bright Places. Finch's POV were my favourite though.

9. Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story; a book that will always be remembered.
The Harry Potter series will be remember by everyone. That series is in no danger of being forgotten.

10. Stay Alive; a character you wish was still alive.
I wish Nehemia Ytger was still alive. I understand the reason for her death, but it still wasn't necessary. There were ways around it. I'm only saying this because I really loved Nehemia. And she let herself be killed.

I'm sorry for not answering some of the questions - I'll fill them in at a later date when my brain starts working again. If you have any suggestions let me know! I want to apologise for my recent absence and to assure you that I am back. I have been so busy the past couple of weeks. I had a break over this week and now I can relax and write you lots of posts for the future!

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFOWER! 

I have a true love for this book and am dying to re-read it. The story was so raw and true and just told the truth without romanticising all the things this life throws at us and showed me how to enjoy the little things. I recommend this to everyone :)

2) A fantasy book that I love.
You can probably guess this. This is sort of cheating as it is more than one book but...
yes, you guessed it... 

HARRY POTTER SERIES.

How I Read Book Tag 2015 ~ Emile

Bonjour!

This is a pre-written post because I am on holiday right now! Yay! Who doesn't like going on holiday. Anyway, I saw this tag going around YouTube and I really liked the idea of it, which got me thinking "there's no reason why this can't be a blog post". So here we are.

When do I read?
The majority of my reading is done at night, lying in bed. It is a time of day when I can guarantee that I will have time to read, and just relax and enjoy the book. My bed is right next to my bookshelf (I mean I literally use the bottom shelf as a bedside table). Especially in winter I like pulling the covers up to my chin and just diving into the world of a good book.

Where do I read?
The other places I like to read are in the living room armchair by the window facing out onto the garden, the rumpus-room sofa (the rumpus room is like a second living room/playroom) and on my beanbag in the corner of my bedroom.

How long does it take me to read a book?
I am a moderate speed reader, so I can read just under 70 page in an hour. Obviously it depends on the book and the size of the font etc. During term time I usually read 2-3 books a week. During the holidays sometimes I can read a book per day. If a book is really good, like Harry Potter, I can read it very quickly even in term time. I read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 2 days during the school term.

What is my favourite genre?
I like modern/contemporary classic, young adult and fantasy genres the most. I realise that that is rather an eclectic mix, but so be it. Other genres I read the most are contemporary and dystopian.

How do I treat my books?
Personally I don't deface my books. I don't write in them, or dog-ear the pages. I tag my favourite parts with post it notes so that I can read them again. There are parts of Clockwork Princess I have read tens or times, and I cry every time. I'm one of those people who like to keep their books perfect, however I do like the look and feel of a well-thumbed, well-loved book.

What is my favourite reading format?
I prefer reading floppy paperbacks. What I mean by that is books that stay open when you just hold the spine. I do own a Kindle paperwhite, which I do love dearly, but I only read on that when I don't own the physical copy, I can't find it in the school library, and I can't borrow it off of a friend. I also tend to read long series on Kindle as supposed to buying them because a 6 book series can cost up to over £50, which I don't want to pay.
