The Name of the Wind Review // Emile

Bonjour everybody,

Recently, a couple of days ago in fact, I finished reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. As it's such a well known book in the world of YA fantasy, I thought it would make for an interesting review. So here we go.

The Name of the Wind is the life story of a world famous hero, murderer, arcanist and musician called Kvothe. However after all of his exciting exploits he disguised himself as an innkeeper called Kote in a humble village. One day, despite his best efforts to stay hidden, Kvothe is found by a scribe who wants to hear his life story. Eventually Kvothe agrees, and tells the scribe his tale...

Over all, I really enjoyed this book. It is quite long so it took me a while to read, which wasn't helped by the fact that when I got to bed I was so tired that I could only read five pages before my exhaustion took over. It is the first book in the Kingkiller Chronicles, which are a three books series. I have heard it described as "a book every fantasy lover needs to read" as well as "the cult of YA fantasy". I consider myself a fantasy novel enthusiast, therefore I decided that I had to read it. I would recommend it, although I don't think that it is mandatory for all fantasy lovers. I really liked reading from the main character's POV (point of view), and I was always excited to see what happened next. I found the relationships between characters incredibly interesting, also the setting of the story was cool to read about. I would love to go to The University! I would spend so much time in the Archives. I rate it 4/5 stars.

See you on Wednesday,

Now for the spoiler section. Do not open this if you don't want to be spoiled!

Currently Reading - 30.9.15 (Emile)

Bonjour everybody,

I'm still reading The Name of the Wind. In all fairness, it's over 600 pages long. But really that's no excuse.

I'm not in a reading slump, because when I do start reading I'm really into it. It's just that it takes a bit of motivation to start reading.

Ironically I want to be reading now, but I have a maths test tomorrow and I need to revise.

*Sigh*

Either way, The Name of the Wind is an awesome and gripping YA fantasy novel which you should definitely read. Read it.

Au revoir for now,
Emile x

Currently Reading ~ 23.9.15 (Emile)

Hallo!

I'm not doing too well at reading at the moment. Every night I go to bed and I am so tired that I just go to sleep straight away. Even so, I have managed to do some reading.

Right now I am currently enjoying The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I've only read two chapters however I can already tell that it's going to be interesting. My friend and I decided we both had to finally read it by the end of September, so I have a deadline as well!

I'd like to review it when I'm done, so hopefully that shall be coming shortly.

Auf Wiedersehen,
Emile x

Hola!

(I thought we'd switch up the greeting every once in a while).

Here is my weekly currently reading post, and I have finished reading The Martian by Andy Weir! I actually put off writing this post until I had finished it. Overall, I really enjoyed it, although unfortunately due to be busy with school and at home I haven't had much time to read. So that's why it took me a bit longer. Nevertheless I'm glad that I read it. A review shall be coming up shortly.

I'm not entirely sure what to read next, however I'm pointing towards The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. A close friend and I decided that we both must read it this month, because we have both owned the book for a long time and have been looking forward to reading it; just haven't gotten around to it.

Another option is Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I have been meaning to read this for a while as well.

Either way, I'll probably decide in the next ten minutes.

Goodnight,
Emile x
