Hello people,
We just got back from YALC (Young Adult Literature Convention) in London. We met V.E. Schwab, Alwyn Hamilton, Emerald Fennel and Louise O' Neill. It was really scary at the time but it wasn't that bad when it came to it.
Anyways, I'm trying to find a good book to help get me back into reading for summer so I have scrapped everything that I was reading and have just started Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill (which I have got signed). I'm super excited to read this book as apparently it is superb.

Sorry for the short post but it's quite late and I haven't had anytime to write it otherwise but it's better a bit of post rather than nothing :-) We will be putting an 'our YALC experience' post up soon so look forward to it!

The Harry Potter Book Tag // Maud

Heyo peeps,
I am watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1) right now so I thought, as I really need to catch up on posts, that I'd do a Harry Potter tag!
Also. Emile, A and I are going to a Harry Potter launch party that I'm so pumped about. What do you think I should dress as?
I'm going to wear my scarf and yellow nail varnish but I'm not totally sure what else!

Hello everyone,

I am so proud of myself. I have been reading so much recently, after I finished the almost thousand page whopper that is The Wise Man's Fear. It was good though. To prepare for the upcoming release of Empire Of Storms (OMG!!!) I decided to re-read Throne of Glass and I had forgotten just how much I loved Celaena and Dorian and all the other amazing characters. Throwback to when I had only just discovered Sarah J. Maas and her BRILLIANT writing. Anyway yeah. 

I  am loving the freedom of Summer holidays so much. I can't believe I still have over a month of no school.

The Wise Man's Fear Review // Emile

This review doesn't contain spoilers for any of the KingKiller Chronicles books. 

Hello everyone,

I finally finished it! All 994 pages! (I know). But I did enjoy it, and it's the perfect opportunity for a review. One of my goals for this blog was to write a review for every book I read, which has been difficult because I have been reading this book for at least three months. It's a great feeling when you've been reading a book for a long time and you get the opportunity to read something else. Oh the choice! I haven't decided yet what my next pick will be.

The Wise Man's Fear is the second book in the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. For my The Name of the Wind (the first book in the series) review, click here. The third book Doors of Stone is eagerly awaited by myself and all his fans however does not have a release date yet. Both of the books that have been released so far are very hefty, which is why it took me so long to read them. Having said that, they are amazing books! The main character, Kvothe, who has disguised himself as a plain humble innkeeper for many years tells the true story of his life to Chronicler the scribe, without all the stories of dragons and saving maidens. Well, only the true stories.

I would definitely recommend this book. Rothfuss' writing is so incredibly clever and enjoyable to read. His characters are dynamic and their development is very entertaining. The only reason why I didn't rate it five stars is because there were no particularly heart-wrenching moments for me, which is something I enjoy in a book. I didn't gasp or cry, but I did laugh a few times. It absolutely fulfils the role of a high fantasy novel, you get completely stuck in the world. Kvothe has his strengths, weaknesses and flaws which makes him feel very real and relatable as a character, no matter what sort of out of this world situation he is in. I also really like Denna for being a bit mysterious and going against grain. Simmon is another of my favourite characters. And Kvothe himself. They're all so good! It's difficult to choose.

Me Before You Review // Emile

Hello everyone,

The WIFI has returned! Thank goodness. I've been at my Nan's house since Thursday and the WIFI hasn't been working, but I have been writing posts! Like the good girl I am. And another review! I am on fire. More than one in a month. Insane. Last week I read Me Before You and I here I am telling you what I think about it. So let’s go. 

I enjoyed this book, although I didn’t find it extremely emotional like a lot of people do. Given, it was sad, and I laughed a couple of times, however there was no weeping or “feels”; if you know what I mean. You should read it though. It was good. The characters were interesting, and I enjoyed the story, although I found the ending rather abrupt and anticlimactic. So go now, read it, and return to read my spoiler section.

I'M BACK// Maud; 23.07.16

Hello everyone,
It has been a while. A long while... But I'm back for good.
My months that I haven't been here have had their ups and downs but I have most importantly been in a reading slump. These have been happening more and more recently so I am trying to fight them off. It's summer now so I have more than enough time to indulge into a book.

CR: I am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. This wasn't announced but this is actually the book of the month (OF WHICH WE REALLY NEED TO START DOING AGAIN). I am also reading Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson but have had to pause just so I get the BOTM read by the end of the month. I'm super excited for next month's book so get ready guys!

I have read this morning and am really enjoying I am the Messenger so far. I also really enjoyed Beautiful Music for Ugly Children by Karen Cronn-Mills. We didn't get round to doing a post about it because Em didn't get round to reading it. Should we start doing one book per month or one book per two months? My Summer Bucket List 2016 //Maud

Heyo peeps,
I went to the Pride Parade yesterday and i kid you not, it was one of the best days of my life. I will put in a few pics down below. (This was written on Sunday the 26th June).

                       

My birthday is tomorrow but it kinda seems unreal because I have already had an amazing day. Today I am going to have a cute picnic with a few friends and have fun in the park. I feel like our generation spends so much time on the internet that we should get out every once in a while.

Anyway, it's now technically summer (although it may not feel it) so after Emile's, I'm going to do my own :)

1. Try not to care as much about what people think. 

2. Practice my ukelele everyday and try as I hard as I can at it. 

3. READ MORE!

4. Have a cute film night with my bestfriends. 

Currently Reading: 12th July 2016 // Emile

Hello everyone,

I have to leave for my piano lesson in ten minutes, but I have enough time to squeeze in a little life update. Two and a half days until Summer! I can't wait. I am absolutely exhausted from this year. I am pleased to announce though that after all my hard work I have been accepted to take triple/separate science GCSE's! That might not mean much to some people, but I have worked so hard this year for it, even after being moved down two sets for no reason, so I am very proud of myself.

I am on page 900 of 994 in The Wise Man's Fear. I am so close! Hopefully I can finish it this week and spend my Summer reading something different. What are you doing this Summer? Let me know! It hardly feels like Summer in Britain due to the torrential downpours we experienced today. Oh well. You never can win with this country. First Brexit and now more rain. Maybe by Friday it will warm up again and show some sun, that sure would be nice.

Finally, I have gotten more time to read again. It's so lovely to sit down at night with a good book, I forgot how much I missed doing that. School is so busy and stressful during the end of the year. And then suddenly it's all over. Tests are all done and you get six weeks to do whatever you want. I am extremely thankful that teachers in my school don't give Summer homework. I would not be pleased. We do need a tone of folders though. A binder for this and a file for that. I can already feel how heavy my bag will be next year, my arm practically aches from the thought. Unfortunately I lost my entire pencil case a few weeks ago which means I have to buy everything in it again =(.

Currently Reading ; 30th June 2016 // Emile

Hello everyone,

It's been a while, and lots has happened. My birthday has happened; that was really fun. I've almost finished end of year exams and I am happy to say that my hard work all year in science has shown and I have done very well. If I may say so myself. I am still reading The Wise Man's Fear. Whoops. I haven't really had time, honestly. Summer is almost here though! I am sure that you are as equally excited as me about it. Unfortunately I still have 2 or 3 tests and a piano duet performance between me and what I've been waiting for all school year. But not too long: two weeks, one day and counting.

It's 1st July now. Yep. I write my posts over several days. I am very excited because I have dance tomorrow and I think it's become the highlight of my week. Then on Sunday I'm going out with 5 of my friends and then on Monday I'm going to my friends house after school and I have the scouts barbecue and then on Tuesday it's teacher strike day and all my friends are coming to my house for a movie! *breathe*. It will be great.

Currently it is almost midnight and my neighbours are playing what is, in my opinion, really bad music, really loudly.

Oh and also I want to talk about jokes. Racist jokes, sexist jokes, homophobic jokes. I was recently talking to someone about this and how some of these "jokes" are not actually funny but rude. The person making the "jokes" told me that the only people who have a problem with them are either, and I quote, "oversensitive" or "pretentious". Now pardon me, but just because you think what you're saying is funny doesn't take away from how offensive it is. There is a very fine line between funny and offensive, and some people cross it. Even prance around on the other side, grinning at their own supposedly humorous comments. It's like saying "no offence". Just because to you it's fine doesn't make it not offensive. There is no excuse for saying things like that, no matter wether they were meant to be funny or not. And just to make it clear, I'm not talking about harmless joshing among friends. I'm talking about people making extremely racist comments and then labelling them as "jokes". Please stop. You are not funny you are rude, and I can assure you that most people agree.

Now that I have laid that out I don't think there is much more to say. See you soon, and always have faith in yourself =) (because I have faith in you).
