A Court of Mist and Fury Review // Emile

Hello everyone!

I am here today with a long awaited post - my A Court of Mist and Fury review. (ACOMAF for short).

If you don't know about ACOMAF go and read any book written by Sarah J. Maas, preferably the first one in a series. She if my absolute favourite author. If you are a fan of sassy characters, sexy characters, or kick-ass characters, or maybe all three, then you will enjoy them. I have spoken about Throne of Glass enough on this blog to express my love for this wonderful lady and her equally wonderful novels. Read them.

Back to the book.

A Court of Mist and Fury is the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy (ACOTAR for short). ACOTAR was released last Spring, and I read it when on holiday in August, and it was brilliant. Many people say that ACOMAF is even better, and I definitely agree. One thing I can say about Sarah J. Maas' characters is that their character development is amazing. Very interesting to read and take the journey of their personal progression with them. You really feel like you are in the book. Like the characters are your friends and you are sitting in a room with them and listening to their words then and there. It's a magical feeling, I'm sure you all know what I am talking about.

I really really really really really reeeaaallly liked this book. The characters are brilliant. Rhysand <3. The descriptions of Velaris are beautiful, it creates such a vivid image. Admittedly, when I heard that there was to be a second book in the series I was a bit sceptical, to me all the loose ends were wrapped up, fighting more needed to happen. But, once I started reading ACOMAF I definitely didn't feel like it was a sequel for the sake of it. It had a great plot and the story line made complete sense. I love the new characters we are introduced to and all their quirky personalities and backstories. In conclusion, 5 stars, it was great, read it.

Now for the spoiler section. I cannot stress this enough: if you do not want to be spoiled do not open the link because it will contain spoilers. You have been warned.

SPOILERS.

For those who do not want to read the next part (good for you. Enjoy the book and then come back and read my review!).

The End,

I used to be so confused when people shipped Feysand (Feyre and Rhysand). Rhysand was occasionally nice to her, but Tamlin and Feyre loved each other, and they were a great couple. Until the beginning of ACOMAF when he kept ignoring her and locked her in! He was horrible to her. Thank goodness Rhysand turned up to save her. Even if it was actually Mor who took her out.

In the beginning I was thinking "Oh okay, he's being nicer now". But then sexy night man appeared and I fell in love. (Sexy night man is the name I gave Rhysand). The scene when she was puking in the toilet and he was soothing her was so sweet (if a little messy :/). After that point in the book I started liking Rhysand more and more. When he was having nightmares and Feyre went and woke him up, I also thought that scene was really cute. Part of the reason I like Rhysand so much is because he has a vulnerable side. He is a more realistic character - and he was a male victim of sexual abuse which is something you don't hear talked about, it's always female victims that are spoken of. He is funny and sarcastic and smart and charismatic and caring and vulnerable and loving; he is such a great character. There is so much depth to him.

I found this Rhysand fan art and this is exactly what he looks like to me:

I'm not sure who made this, but it's brilliant! If you do know put it in the comments and I will put it in because they deserve proper credit.

The scene in the Court of Nightmares was.... interesting. I enjoyed it but I wasn't sure what to think. I just wanted them to get together already.

Then she found out that they were mates. Oh my goodness! I was so happy about that. Imagine how beautiful their babies will be. Feyre freaked out a bit though and went and sat in a wood hut in the middle of nowhere for five days. But when Rhysand turned up, and he explained everything, it was my absolute favourite part. When he started crying, I couldn't contain myself. This is the most heartbreaking line I have ever read:

"I couldn't stop thinking it over and over as you screamed, as I tried to kill her : you were my mate, my mate, my mate.

"But then she snapped your neck"

Tears rolled down his face.

"And I felt you die," he whispered.

Those lines pull so much emotion from me I can't begin to explain.

And then she gave him the soup! And it's official. And then they kept each other busy for a while *wink wink*. Or in fact several days. *more winking*. I was so happy that they were together though.

Honestly I don't have much to say about the ending about from I can't believe that Feyre is stuck with Tamlin pretending that she loves him. How on earth she is going to manage I don't know. After all he did to her the rat, he allied with the King of Hybern with all people to force her with threats of war to come back. Not how I want my engagement to go. He is not worthy of her ever. At all.

Actually I have more to say.  I keep it short.

I was so worried at the end that Azriel was going to die. I hope Cassian's wings heal, I can't bear the though of him being like that forever. And also, the descriptions of Velaris were flipping beautiful. With the Rainbow of Velaris and the river and all the little shops and cobbled streets. I like Amren, Mor and Feyres's friendship.

I actually will go now, this is the longest spoiler section I have ever written. I'm quite proud.

The End,
