Hello everyone,
here are my favourite things to do to relax on a Friday night, because Friday nights aren't just for partying, they're also for me-time.
1. Read! (duh)
2. Watch an episode of whatever I'm currently into (right now it's ITV's Victoria)
3. Just lie in bed and listen to music.
4. Draw or write something.
5. Go to sleep early to see how much sleeping I can possibly get done in one night and catch up from the awfully sleep deprived week I've had.
What do you like to do?

Happy National Poetry Day; Days 5 and 6 // Emile
Princess, princess, where are you?
Eyes rimmed with gold and set in blue,
Saved from death by an old queen new,
Princess, princess, where are you?
Princess, princess, floating downstream,
Too weak, too tired, to swim or scream,
Discovered by a killer king plotting a scheme,
Princess, princess, floating downstream.
Princess, princess, trained murderer now,
Honed by your king into a maelstrom of power,
The princess is dead, you're not sure how,
Killer, killer, I am you now.
Killer, killer, your heart lives on,
He brought it out, but now he is gone,
Betrayed by your saviour, see what he's done,
Killer, killer, your heart must stay strong.
Slave, slave, barely alive,
Surely you'll perish by the grim reaper's scythe,
No-one listens or hears your cries,
Slave, slave, barely alive.
Lady, lady, pearl of the court,
A new king has summoned for you to be taught,
Play in his game until you are caught,
Lady, lady, flee from the court.
Ruler, monarch, you've had many names,
Princess, lady, killer, slave,
They have much power over you, you see,
Princess, lady, killer, queen.
In case you haven't realised (or haven't read the book), this is about Throne of Glass. This is the first draft. The idea for this came to me at 11pm last night, but at that point I was too tired to post. This is not the best poem I've written; it needs a lot of editing, although actually I quite like it.

Tips for music theory exams; Days 3 and 4 // Emile
Hello everyone,
apologies for not posting yesterday, blogger was down so despite my efforts nothing went up. Don't fret though! The posts every day shall continue (as much as possible) for the entirety of this month. Today I will honour you with my tips for music theory exams. If you play an instrument, you probably will have done or will have to do a theory of music exam at some point. I am, by the way, not an expert on this. However, I am about to sit my grade 4 music theory exam, so I like to think that I have gained some experience in my time. Here is my advice:
1. Definitely absolutely do not leave any of it to the last minute.
Make sure you know all of the content at least a month in advance, otherwise you will be stressing and scrambling trying desperately to learn the rest of the content in not enough time.
2. Do some past papers.
In my experience, these really help. They show you what you actually do know and what you need to revise and practise before your exam.
3. Learn your key signatures!
I think this is quite obvious, but I thought I'd better put it in her anyway.
4. Use flashcards/ Quizlet.
You are probably aware of how useful flashcards are for learning difficult details. What is even more useful is Quizlet (not sponsored by the way) which is an free online site where you can make flashcards and they have lots of different modes to help you learn the content. There is also an app which means that you can easily fit in some quick revision whenever you have a moment. I recommend it very much.
5. Use devices to learn difficult information.
For grade 3, I made up a song to the tune of "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid to help me remember my key signatures and it worked! Acronyms, mnemonics, little rhymes or songs can be incredibly useful when your stuck in the exam room.
I hope these tips are useful! Let me know what you like to do to study for any exam.
